Humpback
whale with swimmers
Megaptera
novaeangliae
Port St. Johns, Eastern
Cape, South Africa
Nikon D70
We first spotted this whale breaching in the distance. Typically, any
in-water encounter oduring humpback migration n the Wild Coast of South
Africa is a quick swim-by affair at best, but this wonderful creature
seemed intensely curious, returning again and again to the swimmers in
the water, rolling on her (?) back, and occasionally thrusting her snout
into the air.
I'm the snorkeller on the left
in this picture - thanks Drew!
