Hippopotamus- Kruger National Park, South Africa Fuji S2 digital, Nikon 80-400 VR Hippos kill more Africans every year than any other animal in Africa. The leave the riverbanks at night to forage, and return in the morning. Anyone they meet on the way back, they automatically attack. Early risers take note. I was very happy with the way the light was shining on these animals, with the reflections, the framing reeds and rocks, and the darkened hollow in the background. This image, and the baby terrapin on the back of its parent, are the two images taken on this trip that make me think I'm actually starting to learn a bit about photography. |
