People focused on seeing all the "big five" game animals - lions, leopards, Cape buffalo, elephants and I forget the last one - during their visit to a park in Africa don't seem to get very excited about giraffes. It's true there are a lot of them. But they are incredible animals, impossibly tall, wonderful to look at and to watch. They seem to move in slow motion, as if they are under water.

Hard to photograph, however. The roughly 3:2 framesize of a slide or digital image simply isn't ideally designed for animal this long and tall.
