Except on election day itself, election monitoring mainly means a lot of time in a car and then meetings - with election officials, oversight officials, campaign workers, government types, etc.

My team-mate for monitoring the second round of the Presidential election on 20 September was Miriam Young, who works for the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights in Washington D.C.

The man on the left is I Gusti Agung Md. Manuaba, the head of the Panwaslu office in Tabanan, the area we would be monitoring on election day.

The young man sitting between Miriam and the Paswaslu official is Gus Gangga, our interpreter (and my Indonesian teacher).
