The worst example of public sculpture I've ever seen (1)Sumbawa, Indonesia Fuji S2 digital, Nikon 12-24 This extraordinary monument is in a government office compound on the main thoroughfare in Bima. You have to wonder. The unpleasantly organic looking brown globes, connected by some kind of limp-pasta like integument. The sparkley thing on top that presumably lights up at night. The hands. What could this mean? Did I really want to know? We were told that the brown globes are actually meant to represent eggs, a metaphor for the young and the future of Bimanese society, carefully nurtured, etc. etc. Yeah, right. |
