Tobelo is reputedly the biggest town in Halmahera. You could be forgiven for mistaking it for just a wide part in the road - you can walk from one end of the town to the other in less than ten minutes.

More on the main drag. The damaged building was apparently an Islamic business (not a mosque), burned out during the violence of 1999-2000.
