Maluku
seal
North Maluku, Indonesia
Fuji S2 digital, Nikon 12-24
This is the old seal, before Maluku was divided into two provinces north
and south, but it still appears on government buildings in Ternate, which
is where I took this shot. (We were trying to find a map of Ternate, which
proved more difficult than expected. Note the nutmeg fruits on the left,
cloves (on the right), and the manta ray. I'm not sure what the green
leaves represent.
"Maku" is presumably
short for Maluku - the new province in the north, Maluku Utara, is now
commonly referred to as "Malut".
